Young people get involved

It certainly is good to see young people working to help wildlife.

On the 13th March 2010 a sponsorship swim took place at the St. Georges School in Port Elizabeth.

Kathryn Bell and her two friends, Andrew Reen and Brett Bagley undertook to swim as many lengths as they could to help raise funds for SanWild’s lions. After receiving an email from a friend, Kathryn was so deeply moved about the plight of the SanWild lions that she felt that she just had to do something to ensure that these majestic creatures could continue to live out their natural lives at SanWild with full tummies. Putting the lions down as a result of dwindling donor funding was simply not an option.

With great courage and enthusiasm she arrange with a friend working at the school to use their pool for two hours. The dynamic trio obtained sponsorship from friends and family and started swimming at 10.00am. By 12h00 noon Kathryn completed 132 lengths, Andrew and Brett each completed 48 lengths. A total of R2010.00 was donated to SanWild on the 6th April 2001. Well done guys and a huge thank you to Kathryn for taking the initiative.
