Who said life at SanWild was boring?
Amazingly the unexpected always seem to happen either over a weekend or during a holiday period when we run on a skeleton staff. This year was no exception!
As we arrived at the rehab centre during the Christmas holidays to feed the animals we spotted a long, shining object lying in the sun soon after a heavy thunder storm.
It was a huge python that had somehow managed to get into the rehab area. Off course her presence could not be tolerated as she was large enough to catch and eat most of the animals in rehab. The only animals’ safe from her deadly coils was the rhinos. She had to go!
Well, we had little choice and set on the difficult task of persuading her to leave - this was no easy and she decided to go down a hole. As much as we tried, she could not be dragged out.
Little other option remained but to dig her out and evict her ASAP. Surely between the sweat and broken backs we had a good couple of laughs (and screams!!!)
