Baby vervets

One of two baby vervets that was brought into the centre this week.

Two very small vervet monkeys were brought into the centre for hand raising. We were told that two young children riding on quad bikes found the "orphaned" vervets in the bush. This story sucks, and we find it difficult to believe.

The more likely scenario is that the vervet monkeys mothers' were shot to steal their babies as pets for human children. Their parents most probably soon released that a baby vervet does not make a suitable pet and can be as demanding as their own children.

As Christmas and school holidays are also just around the corner it is a much better option to dump the baby vervets on a rehab centre as they have served their purpose to humans.

Very unkind, cruel and unneccessary, but at least the baby vervets can now be taken care of properly until they can be integrated into a new troop and released to the wild.

Presently Karen is taking care of Tom and Jerry that will be joined up with Noodle, the baby delivered by C-Section.
