A baby giraffe
This year we have been very lucky to see so many baby animals born in the reserve. Without a doubt they are all very cute and loveable, but there is really something about a baby giraffe that immediately grabs one's attention and littel Boone is no exception.
Born only two weeks ago, he is a sturdy handsome little fellow and absolutely loves the attention he is getting from his mother and people alike.
Initially his mother hid him well away from predators; and off course our human eyes, but now she is confident enough to bring him out in the open and the pair prefer the area around Hippo Dam.
We are looking forward to young Boone growing up into a healthy strong giraffe bull.
He is one of 2 calves born since March 2010.
