Snared ostrich.

Sally was rescued some time ago from a poacher's snare that had cut deep into her left leg. At the time she was severely traumatised and much stressed. Although the wounds were not that serious she was dehydrated and in very bad condition. We did not expect her to survive. Fortunately at the time of her rescue we had five young ostriches in the rehab centre that were being hand raised after they had been orphaned and putting the adult female with the younger chicks had a miraculous effect and she immediately regained her will to live. We are happy to report that Sally and her five adoptive chicks have now been released back to the wild and are doing very well. They are seen almost daily on their return to the rehab centre where they hang around for a couple of hours before they wander off again.
