One of 2 vervets dropped off at the centre.
Jerry is one of 2 very small vervets that were dropped off at the centre by a couple who told us that they had found the two vervets abandoned in the bush. This story is highly suspicious and it is more likely that both vervets’ mothers were shot to obtain their babies as pets for human children. It is highly likely that the baby vervets proved to be a handful and that they were not such "good pets"; which they never tend to be. When the festive season approached and the vervets proved to be too troublesome, they were no longer wanted. Fortunately both babies are doing well, but are still be hand raised. They will eventually be introduced to the new troop that is destined for release.
