Another hand raised vervet.
Floris arrived at SanWild some time after his "room mates" were brought to the centre. He was hand raised at another rehab centre, but on the day we collected Jackie and Adam the centre manager decided that she was too "attached" to the vervet to let him go. She also claimed that Floris could not be joined with Adam and Jackie as they were constantly biting him. With a sad heart we left young Floris behind knowing that his future was uncertain and that he was potentially robber of his only chance to return to the wild in a troop.
Fortunately the novelty of Floris quickly wore off and within two months we were contacted by a new centre manager that indicated that they no longer wanted Floris. We managed to persuade them to allow us to collect him and he was soon joined up with his old room-mates that had by now been integrated successfully into the new troop. Floris will be released with the troop in due course.
