The smallest vervet ever to arrive at SanWild.
Young Noodle is truly a miracle baby. He was delivered by C-section after his mother could not deliver him. The baby was simply too big. Noodle's mother was part of a group of vervets that arrived at SanWild for release back to the wild. The troop had become trapped in a built up area as a result of rapid urbanisation.
Initially it was thought that the baby had died inside the mother and we took her to the vet to have the baby removed. As she went to sleep a slight movement of her belly was observed and we realised that the baby could possibly still be saved. An emergency C-section was performed and Noodle arrived in this world gasping for air. Unfortunately his mother was not interested in him at all and he is still being hand raised. The intention is to reunite him with his troop as his mother before the troop is released back to the wild in due course.
