Tue 2 February 2010 15:24:22 - Diary by Claudia Gomes Good place to be
My family and I took a quick break before the schools reopened and we thought it a good opportunity to bring the kids to SanWild. We really had a fantastic time. The highlight of our visit was to accompany the rescue team trying to locate a snared cheetah on a nearby farm. Sorry the poor cheetah could not be found. It has most defiantly not been as a result of lack of effort from your side. Sad to hear it was eventually found dead. Please do keep up your good work. A donation from us is on its way. SanWild is really a good place to be if you would like a serious conservation experience.

Tue 2 February 2010 15:19:22 - Diary by Harold Steyn Great Christmas
We were very fortunately to spend time at SanWild over the festive season. Even though we were not here on Christmas Day the team made a serious effort to treat us to a special Christmas dinner in the bush. Our group consisted of 8 adults and we were delighted to arrive at a viewpoint to find a BUSH Christmas tree all decorated with pods and seeds. As the sun set over the Drakensberg Mountains many lanterns where lit and they created a fantastic atmosphere. We watched the elephants below holding a glass of champagne - what a life! Thanks so much to the team, we had a great time.

Wed 4 November 2009 13:42:41 - Diary by Pieter Dercksen Great reseve, great value for money
We arrived at Sanwild a couple of days ago and are having a great time. It is a beautiful place altough at this stage everybody here is looking forward to the first rains of the season. The animals are so tame and makes for great photographic opportunities. The camps are neat and tidy and the food is great. We can definately recommend a stay here; the rates certainly are good value for money; especially for South Africans that have come to accept that most of our private game reserves are priced so that it is simply not possible for us to visit them.

Mon 12 October 2009 08:01:15 AM - Diary by Derrik Lotter Truly a haven for wildlife
I have been a Sanwild supporter and donor for a number of years, but have only now had to opportunity to see this amazing place for myself. It is beyond my wildest expectations and the only place I know off where all the people involved are so incredibly passionate about wildlife. I have seen over the last couple of weeks, the passion, the struggle and the determination with which the small organisation approaches the tasks set down for them. I have had the opportunity to tag along on a giraffe rescue, have seen the interaction when a call for help comes in for a suffering elephant cow and the amazing rescue of a badger caught in a bush fire. I was privileged to help dart a snared eland and help at the rehab centre - only to prepare food though. Sanwild has my admiration and respect and I urge you all to donate (as I have done) towards their legal costs to keep the Maranda Mining Company off their land. I have seen the destruction that has already taken place and if you love Sanwild, the time is now to immediately get involved before the beautiful place is lost forever and the wild animals find themselves out of home and out of a place of safety.
For those of you who don't know - you can make a donation now and get a free holiday voucher to visit this amazing place personally.

Thu 24 September 2009 07:59:31 AM - Diary by Rick Maclaghlin A great place to stay
Man, what an amazing place to stay! Our experience in this reserve has been unequalled. During our stay it become necessary for the staff to do their regular cleaning of the predator holding facility and we immediately offered (and pleaded) to be allowed to help. This gave us the amazing opportunity to go into the large wild dog camp to pick up scats and old bones. You may think this is a terrible job, but man, are those dogs scary and so incredibly beautiful at the same time. To have an opportunity to meet them up close and personal has certainly changed my life and that of my friends. Thanks to Louise who made the exception and allowed us to help; normally this is strictly forbidden at SanWild but if you ask very politely the exception will be made to allow you to get involved with the daily tasks of running a wildlife reserve and rehabilitation centre. Thanks to the team; to food and professionalism is great, but the wild dogs are the best that ever happened to me. We will definitely return to see these dogs released to the wild in a couple of months.
