SanWild has an amazing bush camp and we welcome guests
to the reserve to meet rescued animals and see how well
they have adjusted back to a life in the wild.
When guests stay in the Savannah Private Bush Camp we
invite them to submit entries to our guest book.
Here you will be able to read about their experiences
and daily sightings.
Thu 8 April 2010 17:12:01 - Diary by Romany Sloan and John Watson Experience the true beauty of the natural world
If you long for a holiday which will allow you to experience the true beauty of the natural world and instill in you a passion to protect and preserve Africa’s spectacular wildlife and flora, make SanWild your next holiday destination.
In fact, a stay at SanWild is so much more than a holiday.
My partner and I spent a total of 6 nights at SanWild and never before have we ever felt more connected to nature. There is a certain magic to this place that you can only truly appreciate once you have had the privilege of staying at SanWild. I am certain that this feeling comes from the incredible wildlife that you encounter, together with the awareness that the animals at SanWild owe their survival to the efforts of founders Louise and Andre.
We came to SanWild with plans of doing a day trip to Kruger National Park, however after six nights at SanWild we had no desire to travel to Kruger as the personalized private game reserve experience that you get at SanWild is so satisfying. We shared the 6000 hectares of SanWild experience with only 3 other guests and for two nights we had the reserve completely to ourselves. Every day Andre took us out for a lengthy game drive to see all that SanWild has to offer and delight the nature enthusiast. Lions, giraffe, buffalo, vervet monkeys, zebra, warthogs, rhino, hippo, wildebeest, tortoises to name but a few of the animals that we saw in their natural habitat.
As for the lodgings at SanWild, I have to say the personal service, the location, the amenities and the food were nothing short of five-star the entire time.
Thu 8 April 2010 17:10:54 - Diary by Romany Sloan and John Watson Two of the most inspiring people
Louise and Andre are two of the most inspiring people I have met. Their determination and passion to save and protect Africa’s threatened wildlife is so noble and the way in which they further the cause of wildlife conservation in South Africa is courageous. They have achieved so much at SanWild and have saved so many animal lives.
I understand that the hardships and frustrations faced at SanWild are numerous and appear at times immense, however let me just say that the lives of the animals that have been saved at SanWild will always outweigh these hardships 100 fold.
We leave SanWild with a burning desire to go out into the world and to use our talents and connections to do our bit for wildlife conservation both in Africa and abroad. I know SanWild inspires this desire in many guests who stay here (if the previous guest logbook entries are anything to go by).
Thank you to Louise, Andre, Precious and the staff at SanWild for making our stay so memorable and for awakening the conservationist in each of us.

Thu 8 April 2010 17:08:22 - Diary by Mary Superb venue
My thanks to Louise for making such a superb venue available for the course. Her dedication to wildlife in general and wildlife rehabilitation in particular is unbelievable and she can only be admired for what she has accomplished. Apart from all her other activities she is now planning a rangers course which is specifically directed towards anti poaching.
My thanks to Ansie for the catering and being concerned specifically about me, my vegetarianism and ensuring I always had plenty to eat even though it meant preparing a separate dish for me. Louise please pass on my thanks to all your staff for their hard work, friendliness and concern for our comfort and wellbeing.
I was extremely worried when I registered for this course that I would not be able to stay awake through intensive lecture sessions as I have not had to do so for so many years. Also I tend to be quite an active person, never sitting down for very long. My fears were totally unfounded, and in fact, the converse was true and I was always sorry when our lecture sessions were over. Because of Karen’s depth and extent of knowledge all her lectures were full of interest. She has the ability to make the subject interesting, punctuating the theory with practical examples. She is an extremely clear and lucid lecturer, and all her talks are so pitched they are easy to follow even for someone who is a total novice to wildlife rehabilitation. I would not have missed it for the world. I can recommend the course to anyone interested in taking up wildlife rehabilitation as a career. In fact, it is essential. Also people who have had some experience with wildlife rehabilitation will, I am sure, increase their knowledge by attending the course.
Thu 8 April 2010 17:04:54 - Diary by Kim Nikijuluw Wonderful place
SanWild is a wonderful place; beautiful scenery and a peaceful setting for all the animals. It’s a sanctuary in every sense of the word. The Wildlife Rehabilitation course made me realise there is still so much to learn. Hopefully Karen’s wise words and her vast amount of rehab knowledge will help me turn lifelong dreams and ambitions into reality.

MARCH 11 2010, From Ontario, Canada
It is now March 11th here at SanWild and tomorrow will be the end of my first week along with it being the end of my first week of studies and look forward to next week advanced studies Karen has prepared. The weather could not be more perfect although some might disagree for it has been in the high 30's into the 40's here and I love every minute coming from CANADA and the frigid snow I left a week ago. Today there was rains and lots of it although for only about 20 minutes it was enough to soak the grounds well...they say when it rains here it pores and it certainly did just did that.
